At our first Allied Health Assistants Without Borders conversation, participants described their workforce in two striking words: undervalued and emerging.
Tomorrow, Professor Richard Griffin MBE will join me to help take that conversation further. Richard has researched the UK support workforce extensively, including its roles, career pathways and continuing struggle for recognition. He is currently conducting a UK survey of support workers, which raises an interesting question for all of us: could shared questions across countries help make this workforce more visible?
We’ll begin with a short conversation about what the UK experience can teach us. Then we’ll turn to participants as the experts in their own settings:
-
What is your role called, and is it well understood?
-
Where can assistants and support workers develop a career?
-
What helps with supervision, delegation and safe practice?
-
What should employers, policymakers and workforce networks do next?
This is a facilitated international discussion, with room for AHA and support worker voices. Allied health professionals, supervisors, educators, employers and workforce leaders are also welcome.
Wednesday 30 September 2026, 5–6 pm AEST (8–9 am BST), online. This session is free and open to everyone.
Please share this invitation with a colleague whose experience should be part of the conversation.
